WorkSafe
In Victoria, WorkSafe takes the lead role in the promotion and legal enforcement of health and safety provisions in workplaces.
In essence, it is the occupational health and safety arm of the Victorian WorkCover Authority (VWA).
The key responsibilities of Worksafe include:
- helping avoid workplace injuries occurring;
- enforcing Victoria's occupational health and safety laws;
- helping injured workers back into the workforce; and
- managing the workers' compensation scheme.
