Are you being paid correctly? (03/12)
13 January 2012
Recently The Police Association has assisted a spate of members who have been underpaid (some overpaid) because they were not placed on the correct pay increment.
Now that the EBA has been finalised and the new pay rates have come in to effect, it is important that members check that they are being paid correctly.
Members being paid at the wrong increment under the old agreement will have almost certainly transitioned to the wrong increment in the new agreement and not get the full benefit of the negotiated salary increases.
There are a number of reasons why members may not be paid at the correct rate, including:
- Delayed incremental progression, due to Performance Development Assessments (PDA) not being properly completed by them or their supervisor. If your annual assessment hasn’t been signed off then you will not have progressed to the next pay increment.
- Some programming issues have been identified with HR Assist (Vic Pol payroll software) which has had the effect of denying members their increment despite their PDA being completed.
- Errors may have resulted in the wrong increment date being recorded in HR Assist.
Whatever the reason, you should take action now to ensure your salary is correct from the start of the new agreement.
If you are unsure whether you are being paid correctly please follow the simple step by step guide.
